The GOAL Support Group for OCD

Obsessive Compulsive Creed (click to open)

Modelled after the GOAL support group developed by Jonathan Grayson, Ph.D. and Gayle Frankel, the group will give participants the opportunity to discuss topics relevant to OCD and its treatment, as well as support each other to set achievable behavioural goals that will help with gaining better control over one’s OCD. Finally, the group will allow participants to connect with others living with OCD in the aim of fostering a safe and supportive community.

The GOAL group is a peer-led and professional-assisted group, meaning that the group is co-facilitated by members with lived experience and a mental health clinician.

 Who Can Attend this Group?

·  This group is free and open to all individuals 18 years or older with OCD who are living in Ontario. This group is not intended for those living with OCD-related disorders such as Hoarding Disorder, Trichotillomania (Hair-Pulling Disorder), unless the individual has concurrent symptoms of OCD. Since the purpose of the group is to provide a peer support system and information exchange for people with this disorder, the group is not open to family members or friends.

·   GOAL group is intended as a support group and is not a substitute for psychological services. This group is not meant to replace therapy, but rather act as a complement to therapy.
